JOB VACANCY: Extension Officer at Keells
Key Responsibilities 📝
As an Extension Officer, you will be crucial in fostering sustainable and quality agricultural practices among our farming partners.
- Introduce new farmers to the collection center.
- Encourage current farmers to improve their crop's harvest and quality.
- Ensure sustainability and consistency of quality and availability of fruits and vegetables.
- Visit agricultural sites and document maintenance.
- Identify new sourcing locations and products that can be sold in Keells stores.
- Work closely with farmers.
- Communicate the current conditions of products to the collection center team.
- Identify current issues, future risks and opportunities and inform the Head office team.
- Conduct the required farmer training programs.
- Conduct center staff quality related trainings.
- Lead the relevant agricultural projects while monitoring and documenting progress.
- Ensure stock maintenance for agricultural projects.
- Engage in agricultural activities and meet with farmers and government officials to ensure that the correct modern agricultural technologies to ensure vegetables and fruits are properly grown.
Key Requirements 📋
We are seeking a proactive and skilled individual with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Should possess a Diploma in Agriculture, with sound technical knowledge and management skills or an equivalent in Vocational Qualification.
- Minimum 1-2 years' work experience in a similar capacity.
- Should have good communication skills (English/Sinhala/Tamil).
- Knowledge of the internal and external environments of the industry.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Task prioritization, time management and the ability to multi-task while being a good team player.
- Should be able to work independently to meet deadlines.
